Blog Statistics
Now back from my month away, I was interested to see that the readership statistics for this blog showed, as expected, a drop for September. However bearing in mind that there were no postings at all during September the drop was much smaller than I had expected. August was a record month but September still exceeded the total for July.
Unique visitors:
July 736
August 953
September 773
I’m not quite sure what to make of this, except that a blog is as permanent as a website and therefore attracts many readers who are not necessarily following the latest entry.

Welcome back. I missed you, but I'm glad you still had traffic even tho' you weren't posting. What stat counter do you use?
I wrote very little in September due to doing double-duty at home because of my husband's illness, but I found that I had more visitors nonetheless. I use Statcounter along with Sitemeter since they were recommended to me by Aimee Milburn. It was her post in Historical Christian many months ago that led me to your post.
How do you know if you are getting hits from an RSS feeder? Usually, if a reader likes your blog, they will continue to visit, and/or they click to you from a link on someone's blogroll. I love being able to interact with other Catholics via blogs and Sitemeter gives details such as where they came from.
I'm glad you're back again.
Hi Maryellen
Thanks for the good wishes, and I will keep you in my prayers reference your husband's illness.
In answer to your query Squarespace has its own built-in stats counter. As well as website hits it also shows the number of hits from RSS feeders, though I haven't included those in the above figures.

Welcome back. I follow by rss using Google so I come and look when I see new posts.
